Swell Bar Hydrophilic

Swell Bar Hydrophilic Supplier In Pakistan

Mega Swell Bar (also spelled “Mega Seale Swell Bar”) is a hydrophilic swell bar / swellable water bar. These are sealing strips embedded in concrete joints or penetrations that swell upon contact with water to block leaks.

It’s used in construction joints, basement walls, pipe or cable penetrations, etc., wherever water ingress is likely.

Key Properties & Specifications

From a Pakistani supplier listing, here are the specs of Mega Seale Swell Bar:

  • Colours available: Blue, Black, Red.
  • Operating / Service Temperature Range: from about −30°C to +70°C
  • Shore A Hardness: ~40‑50
  • Expansion Volume in Fresh Water: > 200% of its original size
  • Hydrostatic Pressure Resistance: >50 m (i.e. able to resist 5 bars)
  • Sizes / Cross Section / Profiles: 5 mm × 20 mm or 10 mm × 20 mm
  • Packing / Roll length: 100 running feet per roll

Notes on Performance
It has a slow expansion rate during curing so as not to damage fresh concrete. Premature swelling can cause problems, so the product is designed to delay expansion until after initial concrete setting.

The material maintains its original form even after repeated contraction (wet/dry cycles). So its swelling / shrinking ability is durable.

Advantages

  • Provides an active seal when in contact with water — meaning the water triggers swelling to block any leaks.
  • Long‑term wet/dry cycling has little effect on its swelling properties. Good for durability.
  • It resists fairly high hydrostatic pressures (5 bars / 50 meters). Useful for basements, underground structures.
